Other than the stifling heat and consistent bad hair days, I love summer time! I love all that it comes with…the cookouts, impromptu get togethers, eating outside on our patio, s’mores and more. I love having my girls home and just easing into the day (on non camp days that is) having no plans but to go to the pool or where can we go get the best ice cream and snow cones to beat the heat.
So I have rounded up some of my favorite Target summer must haves, some kid approved, mom essentials and the hostess with the mostest approved. It’s short and sweet this week !
While we don’t entertain as much I would like, when we do I always love to have fun festive paper products (hello easy clean up), acrylic or plastic beverage glasses especially for outside entertaining and games available for the kids and even adults.
I love how colorful these beverage glasses are. They just scream summer to me! Whether you are drinking lemonade or an adult beverage, it will just make you happy holding it.
My mama always taught me that every hostess has good cocktail napkins to go with the guests’ drinks. Cocktail napkins or even guest towels are also great as a hostess gift. Add a bottle of wine or drink of choice, tie it on with pretty ribbon and you are ready to go. Cheers!
Here are some that I just picked up and adore. I would just do white plates and make these beauties the center of attention. Although if you wanted more color, coral plates would be pretty. When I have these kind of “party napkins” leftover or even seasonal ones, I will put them in my girls’ lunch as just a little happy.
Speaking of my girls, they have been obsessed with doing s’mores especially during the summer months. I found these grilling tools last year and so I checked it out for you loyal readers, and guess what, Target has them again this year.
I love that these grilling forks can extend so it’s great when roasting marshmallows or dogs and you don’t have to worry about you or your kiddos getting burned or the marshmallow falling off. Heaven forbid!
So this is my little set up from last weekend. You can see I have the grilling tools I mentioned above and I also added some wooden skewers for the adults. We had a few folks over so needed some quick turnaround on those marshmallows.
This is my youngest and her sweet friend from school. It was an impromptu playdate, which to me are the best kind.
When it’s nice out, I will get our cornhole and the old school ring toss game out for the kids to do while the parents visit. I purchased these a couple of years ago and they are still going strong. They have lasted through birthdays, school parties and just plain old get togethers in the backyard. I also love that they are wooden or somewhat of a neutral color (of course).
While we are speaking of get togethers, I thought I would add one of my favorite candles or candle brand at Target. To me, it’s just plain ole good manners to bring a hostess gift. You should never show up to someone’s house empty handed. So whether that is a candle like this one with ribbon around it, flowers, cute napkins, adult beverage or maybe even something for their kids, make sure you remember the host that has opened his or her home to you.
Now go on, welcome your friends, your family and better yet, your neighbors to your home and just enjoy each other’s company making some wonderful memories.
